ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW
Girls Inc. of Holyoke delivers life-changing programs that inspire girls to be strong, smart, and bold. Research-based curricula, delivered by trained professionals, equip girls to achieve academically; lead healthy and physically active lives; manage money; navigate media messages; and discover an interest in science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Girls Inc. of Holyoke is an independent affiliate of the national Girls Inc. organization, the nation’s leading expert on issues affecting girls and young women.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Director of Programs will be responsible for the operational success of Girls Inc. of Holyoke, ensuring seamless team management and development, program delivery, and quality control and evaluation. In this re-established role, the Director of Programs will manage a growing staff of 12, and will be a key external face of Girls Inc. of Holyoke in the community.

The Director of Programs must possess excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills. Must have the ability to create and maintain agency-wide lines of communication. Must be able to motivate and lead a team, be an energetic self-starter, and be patient and diplomatic when interacting with various stakeholders. The Director of Programs will be cooperative, creative, a critical thinker, a problem solver, and negotiator. This position requires a high level understanding of gender specific, youth development programming, and must have the capacity to work well under pressure.

Knowledge of community needs in the Greater Holyoke, Chicopee and Springfield area, marketing strategies, understanding of the unique offerings of gender-specific programs and participatory management are essential elements to succeed in this position.

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE
•  Minimum of a BA/BS, MA/MS preferred.
•  At least 5 years of experience with 2 of those in a team management role.
•  Proficient in using technology as a management reporting tool, and experience working with staff to develop and implement program evaluation systems.
•  Experience in supervision and management of a diverse work force; individuals with second language skills will be given favorable consideration.
